The Peace with Justice movement at Country Club Congregational United Church of Christ, and other UCC congregations across the country, boldly proclaims a public identity as a justice-doing, peace-seeking church.
Over the years, the Peace with Justice identity has become an important symbol for many UCC congregations, as both a means of shaping congregational identity and as a theological framework for doing justice-based theological reflection.
The movement underscores the importance of direct service, legislative advocacy, and courageous witness. The approach differs from church to church: Some are immersed in anti-war and anti-militarism issues, while some focus their energies on U.S. policies affecting Central America. Still others strengthened their multi-racial and multi-cultural witness or developed neighborhood ministries.
CCCUCC’s Social Justice Task Force and partnerships with various community organizations are manifestations of this commitment.
